Hershel L Byrd

Hershel L. Byrd of Milan passed away Wednesday July 26, 2017 at home with his family by his side. Hershel was born Wednesday February 21, 1934 in Casey County, Ky the son of Alvin and Clydell (Dalton) Byrd. He married Patty (Livingston) Byrd and she survives.  

He was a US Army Veteran, and a member of the Hope Baptist Church.  Hershel owned his own garage in Sunman for years; later working for Wisman Mobile Homes until they closed. Later, he became self-employed and help develop the Milan trailer park from a cornfield to what it is today. Hershel enjoyed working, being with family and going and taking care of the church.

Hershel is survived by wife: Patty Byrd of Milan; son: Richard (Cindy) Byrd of Osgood; Hershel (Jamie) Byrd of Milan; daughters: Lois (Randy) Sallee of Milan; step-daughters: Brooke (Mark) Wuest and Amanda (John) Bisell both of Milan. Brothers: Addis Byrd of FL; Preston (Darlene) Byrd of Columbus, IN; Melvin (Doris) Bird Trafalgar, IN; Sister: Iva Dean (Gale) Fogle of Greensburg. 15 Grandchildren; 14 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great-Grandchild.  He was preceded in death was his parents.

Funeral service will be 12PM Saturday July 29, 2017 at Hope Baptist Church 15593 US 50 Dillsboro, IN 47018 with Pastor Tom Holt officiating.  Burial with military rites will follow in New Craven Cemetery south of Milan. Visitation 10AM-12PM Saturday also at the church. Memorials may be made to the Family.
