James "Jim" Wilbur Walston

James “Jim” Wilbur Walston, 84 of Dillsboro passed away Wednesday October 11, 2017 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. Jim was born Saturday November 5, 1932 in Bennington, IN  the son of Lawrence and Christine (Vinup) Walston. He married Jewell Faye (Craft) Walston May 26, 1954 and she survives. He served his country having served in the US Army.  He had been a heavy equipment operator, being one who helped build Interstate 74. He also worked at Fernald, Husman, and ACI phone book covers. He also was a business owner having owned and operated J&J Liquors and Storage and J&J AutoMart  with his wife for many years.  Jim was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and  the Dillsboro American Legion Post. He enjoyed operating his business, traveling, and his family time. 

     Jim is survived by wife, Jewell Walston of Dillsboro, daughters Carma Renee (Patrick) Wilson and Beth (Andy) Hummel both of Dillsboro; brother Paul Walston of Greensburg, sister-in-law Eley Walston of Ross, Ohio, grandchildren Brandi (DJ) Heimbrock, Brooke (Chris) Patrick, Adam (Ashley) Wilson, Andrew Hummel  (Dionne House),  and Hayden Hummel and great grandchildren Addyson, and Lily Emerson, Skylynn and Aniyah Hummel.  Preceded in death by parents, stepmother Hazel Walston, 4 brothers, Clarence (Slim), Donald, Robert, and Raymond “Pete” Walston.

     Funeral services will be at 12 Noon on Monday October 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church,12854 Central Ave. Dillsboro with Rev. Richard Kolaskey officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery with full military honors by the Northcutt-Laaker American Legion Post #292 of Dillsboro.  Visitation will also be Monday 10-12noon at the church.  Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Dillsboro Life Squad, or Oakdale Cemetery.  Filter-DeVries Moore Funeral Home, Dillsboro entrusted with the arrangements.
