Obituary Notice

Romona J. Thrasher, 88 passed away Tuesday September 5 at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville. She was a resident of Moores Hill but spent the last 8 years living at Manderly Health Care in Osgood.   Romona was born Tuesday September 18, 1928 in Newport, Kentucky the daughter of Ernest and Esther (Podesta) Owen.  She was a longtime employee of the Osgood Shoe Factory.   She enjoyed crafts, reading, sewing and her family time.  She was happy when she had a pair of scissors in her hands, and she would never say “no” to having some ice cream!

     Romona is survived by son Anthony Thrasher of Dillsboro, daughters Jeannine Clark of Seattle, Washington; April Holm of Tampa, Florida; Lisa Voiles of Indianapolis; Janet Thrasher of Dillsboro; Laura McIntosh of Milan and Audrey Snyder of Dillsboro; 12 grandchildren;  9 greatgrandchildren; and a host of friends.  She was preceded in death by children Adria Ingersoll, John and Mindy Thrasher, 1 brother and 1 sister. 

     A service to celebrate Romona’s life will be at 7PM Saturday Sept 9 at Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home, Moores Hill with Pastor Tommy Beatley officiating.
