David Alan Elder Sr.

David Alan Elder Sr. age 70, of Marion Texas passed away peacefully with family and friends at his side on Sunday, September 10, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas.  David was born December 27, 1946, son of the late Wilbur and Ann Elder.  He is survived by his wife, Barbara, Marion, Texas and sister, Jeri Sue Hughes, Chesterton, Indiana; children Judi Sutton (Bobby) of Waskom, Texas; David A. Elder Jr. (Shari) of Terre Haute, Indiana; Derek Elder  (Melissa) of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren Dustin Elder, Camille Barmore, Tristan Elder, Taelyn Elder, Kylie Elder and Piper Elder along with nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Taylor Elder.

     Dave graduated from Dillsboro High School in 1964 and held both a BS and MS degree from Indiana State University.  He was retired from San Antonio College in San Antonio, Texas.  In recent years he was active in the Guadalupe County Master Gardeners and operated Countryside Ceramics in Marion, Texas after his business partner, Lavon Major passed away in 2013.

     A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 1:00PM at Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro, Indiana.  The family will have a lunch following at Trinity Lutheran Church.  Filter-DeVries-Moore Funeral Home, Dillsboro assisting the family with local arrangements.
