Barry Lake Obituary

       Barry J. Lake, 69, of Sunman passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024, peacefully at home with his loving family by his side. Barry was born on Thursday, December 16, 1954, in Cincinnati; son of Richard and Dorothy (Heitz) Lake. Barry proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He worked at Hillenbrand in maintenance. Barry married the love of his life, Jeanne (Kornau) Lake, on August 20, 1986, and she survives him. He attended St. John’s Church in Penntown and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. Barry enjoyed going on adventures, fishing, hiking, and riding his motorcycle. Barry also enjoyed escaping the cold winter by spending time in Florida during the winter months. Barry most of all cherished spending time with his loving family.

       Barry will be missed by his wife of 37 years, Jeanne Lake of Sunman; daughters Jessica (John) Small of Sunman and Jenny (Derow) Young of Batesville; sons Joey Lake and Johnny Lake; brother Thomas (Marcy) Lake of Rising Sun; sister Doris Rehn of Cincinnati; and grandchildren Leo J. Small, Clayton D. Small, Ava J. Kraus, Noah A. Kraus, Nate J. Kraus, and Emanuel L. Young; as well as several nieces and nephews.

       Barry was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Dorothy Lake.

       Family and friends may gather in remembering Barry from 10:00-11:30 AM, Friday, February 23, 2024 at St. John’s Church; 8917 E County Rd 1300 N, Sunman, IN 47041. A service will immediately follow at 11:30 AM with Rev. Katherine Beckett officiating. Military rites will follow the service provided by the Sunman American Legion Post #337. Memorials may be given in honor of Barry to the YES Home or Center for Global Impact.
