Bruce L. Bates, 65, of Milan passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024, at his home. Bruce was born on Saturday, January 10, 1959, in Indianapolis; son of Leslie Bates and LaMona (Flatt) Bates-West. Bruce was a carpenter and worked in construction. He loved fishing, hunting, and his dogs. Most of all Bruce loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

       Bruce will be missed by his son Christopher (Amanda) Bates of Greensburg; daughters Brandy (Donald) Howington of Milan and Amanda (Tom Whitaker) Bates of Tennessee; mother of children Iris (Eugene) Beal of Tennessee; mother LaMona Bates-West of Osgood; brothers Gene (Nicki) Bates of Versailles, Warren (Denise) Bates of Versailles, and Gary (Stephanie) Lauber of Milan; sisters Jessica (Hal) Hubbard of Greensburg; and Lynn Bates; and 10 grandchildren.

       Bruce was preceded in death by his father Leslie Bates and wife Wilma Bates.

       There are no services. Memorials may be given in honor of Bruce to Ripley County Humane Society.
