Charles Utah Drew

       Charles Utah Drew, 83, of Dillsboro passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, at The Waters of Dillsboro. Charles was born on Sunday, December 27, 1942, in Aurora, Indiana; son of Charles L. Drew and Ella Gertrude (Browning) Drew. He married Catherine “Louise” Drew, and she preceded him in death. Charles worked as a truck driver for the Indiana State Highway Department for many years. He enjoyed fishing and loved antique cars and tractors. Charles also loved watching westerns and watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr.

       Charles will be missed by his stepchildren Gladys Thompson, Marie Frantz, Karen Lane, and Lois Lundsford; brother Jim (JoAnn) Drew of Versailles; sisters Kissy (Tom) Steelman of Lawrenceburg and Kay (Kim) Hansen of Rising Sun; sister-in-law Phyllis Drew of Milan; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

       Charles was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ella Drew; wife Catherine Drew; stepson Clyde Eldridge; stepdaughter Brenda Grim; brothers Roger Drew and Delbert Drew; half brother Donald Drew; and sisters Maxine McKinney, Jeane Lovelace, Sally Riffel, and Alberta Brameier.

       A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Mt. Sinai Cemetery with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Memorials may be given in honor of Charles to Ohio County Animal Shelter or to the donor’s choice.
