Elfrieda “Frieda” (Schmitt) Stanley, 85, of Milan passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at her home with her loving family by her side. Frieda was born on Tuesday, January 24, 1939, in Cincinnati; daughter of Emil and Louise (Kern) Schmitt. Frieda married the love of her life, James Stanley, on May 11, 1956, and he preceded her on October 10, 2018. Frieda was a homemaker and loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Frieda also enjoyed spending time doing yard work such as cutting grass and tending to her flower gardens.

       Frieda will be missed by her sons James Willie (Brenda) Stanley of Milan and Thomas Gerald (Wanda) Stanley of Sunman; daughter-in-law Carol Stanley of Medora; 7 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

       Frieda was preceded in death by her parents Emil and Louise Schmitt; loving husband James Stanley; son Richard Ray Stanley; and siblings Clara Philling, Alvina Becker, William Schmitt, Hielda Heist, and Lena Coffman.

       Family and friends may gather in remembering Frieda from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM, Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. A service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM held by the family. Memorials may be given in honor of Frieda to the Donor’s Choice.
