Elizabeth "Betz" Dianne (Vogt) Martinez

       Elizabeth Dianne “Betz” (Vogt) Martinez, 64, of Dillsboro passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Jewish Hospital. Betz was born on Tuesday, October 27, 1959, in Cincinnati; daughter of William George Vogt and Karla Johanna (Meyer) Vogt. Betz married the love of her life, Jesus Martinez, in 2002 and he survives. Betz was known to be independent and hardworking and in her first career she worked in graphic design as a type setter. Betz never met a stranger, which showed when she worked another job later in life assisting customers at the Dillsboro B.P. Her creativity won her an award at the Wine and Arts Festival in Sunnyvale, California in 2003 during a logo contest. She loved music, cats, swimming, and playing pool. Betz was always kindhearted, strong, brave, and known to have a contagious laugh. She had a positive outlook on life no matter what was thrown her way.

       Betz will be missed by her husband, Jesus Martinez of Dillsboro; mother Karla Vogt of Ohio; brothers Stephen (Sue) Vogt of Texas, Greg (Lisa) Vogt of Pittsburgh, and Ed (Shelly) Vogt of Kansas; sister Karla (John) Abele of Ohio; best friend Molly Randall of Dillsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

       Betz was preceded in death by her father William George Vogt.

       Services will be held privately by the family. Memorials may be given in honor of Betz to the Donor’s Choice.
