Ernie E. Davis Sr.

       Ernie E. Davis Sr., 80, of Milan passed away Sunday March 10, 2024, at his home with his loving family by his side. Ernie was born on Saturday, November 13, 1943, in Milan; son of Ernie Davis and Waunita (Pemberton) Hastings. Ernie retired from Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana, where he worked in maintenance. Ernie married the love of his life, Jan (Smith) Davis, in April 1972, and she survives him. He was a member of the Milan First Baptist Church and the Hoosier Car Club. He enjoyed restoring vintage vehicles and was an avid reader. Ernie most of all cherished spending time with his family.

       Ernie will be missed by his wife of fifty-one years, Jan Davis of Milan; children Thais (Barron) Cook of Batesville, Jeni (Daniel) Werner of St. Leon, Ernie (Lisa) Davis Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Jodi (C.C.) Eckstein of Sunman, and Jeffery (Melody) Schornick of Batesville; brothers Walter (Lynne) Davis of Milan and Durwood “Toby” Hunter of Batesville; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

       Ernie was preceded in death by his parents Ernie Davis and Waunita Hastings, and brother Timothy Tarbutton.

       Family and friends may gather in remembering Ernie from 4:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Milan First Baptist Church; 112 S. Main St., Milan, IN 47031, with Pastor Harris Long officiating. Burial will follow at New Cravens Cemetery. Memorials may be given in honor of Ernie to Milan First Baptist Church, Safe Passage, or Margaret Mary Health Hospice.
