Garfield "Gar" Eldridge Obituary

Garfield “Gar” David Eldridge, 76, of Milan passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, May 6, 2022. Gar was born on Sunday, December 2, 1945 in Ages, Kentucky; son of Dave and Pauline (Burkart) Eldridge. Gar married his loving wife Theresa Cato on July 29, 1965. Gar retired from AEP in Lawrenceburg as an equipment operator after 30 years. He was very involved in his community serving as a member of the Milan Sons of American Legion, past fire chief of Milan Fire Department, frying chicken for the fire department chicken dinners, and owner/operator of Gar’s Shell Station in Milan. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was fishing, hunting, especially coon hunting, boating, camping, horseback riding, traveling, going on cruises, or just tinkering in his barn with his grandchildren. He could do most anything, from building items in construction, being a mechanic, an electrician, and training his own horses. His greatest passion in life was his family, especially being able to baby-sit his grandchildren.

Gar will be missed by his wife of 56 years, Theresa Eldridge of Milan; son Garfield “David” (Heather) Eldridge Jr. of South Dakota; daughter Julie (Greg) Gray of Milan; brothers Ron (Connie) Myers of Milan, Billy (Margie) Eldridge of Osgood, and Robert “Butch” Myers of Dillsboro; grandchildren Mercedes Mount of Greensburg, Ryan and Corey Gray of Milan; and great-granddaughter Emily Mount.

Gar was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Pauline Eldridge.
