Obituary
Janetta “Jan” (Lacey) Gilbert, 70, of Dillsboro passed away Monday, September 18, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side. Jan was born on Sunday, September 28, 1952 in Batesville; daughter of Roy Richard Lacey Jr. and Patricia (Harmon) Lacey. Jan married the love of her life, Jimmie Dale Gilbert, on June 5, 1970 and they were married for 52 wonderful years. Jan worked as a bank teller at United Community Bank in Aurora. She was a member of the Dearborn Baptist Church in Manchester where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Jan enjoyed traveling, baking, and cooking. Most of all she cherished spending time with her loving family.
Jan will be missed by her son Travis (Dianna) Gilbert of Garland, Texas; daughters Sarah (Brian) Massey of Batesville and Lacey (Jason) Luckhaupt of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; sister Gayla Jenkins of Lawrenceburg; and grandchildren Luke Gilbert, Noah (Madison) Gilbert, Ethan Gilbert, Emily (Christian) Daniell, Sydney Massey, Elijah Luckhaupt, Abigail Luckhaupt, and Lydia Luckhaupt.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents Roy Richard Lacey Jr. and Patricia Lacey; loving husband Jimmie Dale Gilbert; and brothers Richard Lacey and Jeff Lacey.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Jan from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Dearborn Baptist Church; 9638 IN-48, Aurora, IN 47001. A service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM with Pastor Darrell Sparks officiating. Burial will take place at Oakdale Cemetery. Memorials may be given in honor of Jan to the Dearborn Baptist Church Remodeling Program.
