Jerry Johnson Obituary

Jerry Wayne Johnson was born on Sunday, July 22nd, 1951 at Camp LeJune, North Carolina, the son of Bob and Fern (Asher) Johnson. Jerry peacefully passed away on Friday, October 29th, 2021 at Jewish Hospital, Kenwood, Ohio. Jerry’s childhood years were spent in Camp Washington, Cincinnati, Ohio and later Mt. Healthy, Ohio.

On November 13th, 1971, Jerry married the love of his life Brenda Justice. They lived in Cincinnati, Ohio for one year when Jerry realized the phone bill was higher than the rent and he moved he and Brenda back to Milan, Indiana where they would build their life together.

In this life they welcomed three beautiful children, Tracy (Steve) Roseberry, Elizabeth (Tony) Roell, and Nicolas (Ashley) Johnson. With these three children they were blessed with eight grandchildren: Logan Woolum, Bradlee (Mallory) Heath, Hannah (Logan) Mullikin, Madelynn (Jaedyn) Roell, Lauren Roell, Izaiah Johnson, Graham Johnson, and Rowan Johnson; one great-grandchild, Berklee Heath; five bonus grandchildren: Savannah Sargent, Karly Sargent, Mya Sargent, Timothy Roseberry, and Wesley Roseberry; one bonus great-grandchild, Hoyt Metcalf.

Jerry had a love for music, he was a well-known drummer, having played with Lonnie Mack and the Stringbusters. His love for music carried out daily in his life with a love for The Beatles and The Beegees.

Jerry traveled the country, visiting every state, having driven a semi for Hill-Rom, retiring that love after 47 years. Throughout the years at Hill-Rom many friendships and brotherhoods evolved that carried out his entire life, they were family in his heart, as well as his families. Jerry was better known to his Hill-Rom family as “Mooner” or “Moonshiner”.

Jerry’s retirement consisted of drinking coffee every morning on the back porch with his wife, spending time with his children and grandchildren, cruising on his Harley or shining on his Trans Am and attending car shows, or working in the yard or shining on his home.

The most amazing husband, father, paps, brother, cousin, and friend will be deeply missed by many. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Brenda of Milan; children Tracy (Steve) Roseberry of Batesville, Elizabeth (Tony) Roell of Batesville, and Nicolas (Ashley) Johnson of Sunman; grandchildren, great grandson, bonus grandchildren and great grandson; sisters Linda Hall of Milan, Gail (Tim) Frith of Milford, Ohio, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Fern Johnson.
