Mary (Banschbach) Mitchell, 83, of Sunman passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. Mary was born on Tuesday, May 20, 1941, in Batesville; daughter of Herman and Mary (Doerr) Banschbach. Mary was a member of the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Morris, Indiana. She was the postmaster of the post office in Friendship. Mary was a member of the Milan VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, and spending time with her family.

       Mary will be missed by her sons Roy A. (Michelle) Mitchell of Fort Drum, New York, and William (Holly) Mitchell of Eden, North Carolina; daughter Alicia Mitchell of Holton; sister Rita (Dave) Leone of Clayton, Indiana; grandchildren Sierra, Cody, Justin, Caleb, Will, Zaccary, Jerrett, Serenity, and Megan; and great-grandchildren Sebastian and Lily.

       Mary was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Mary Banschbach; husband Roy Mitchell Jr.; daughter Marie Jeanette Mitchell; grandsons Anthony and Christian Mitchell; and brothers John, Fred, Joseph, Jerome, Cornelius, and William Banschbach.

       Family and friends may gather in remembering Mary from 10:00-11:00 AM, Monday, February 17, 2025, at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. The Milan VFW Ladies Auxiliary will hold their services at 10:50 AM. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Harris Long officiating. Burial will follow at Indiana Veterans Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. Memorials may be given in honor of Mary to the Milan VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
